Baldvin Þorsteinsson EA-10, Samherji´s multi purpose vessel., left Riga in Latvia last sunday night and had just passed the Faeroe Islands this morning, on it´s way home. The ship is expected to be in Akureyri on Saturday.

 

Baldvin Þorsteinsson EA, previously called Hannover NC and before that Guðbjörg ÍS, has changed dramatically. The ship has, in the last months, been in a shipyard in Letland being lengthened by 18 meters and changed in various ways.

On the way home there are 14 men onboard, including both Captains Hákon Þröstur Guðmundsson and Árni V. Þórðarson. Kristinn V. Daníelsson, electronic engineer in Samherji in Akureyri, one of the crew on board, said yesterday that he could safely say that the ship had gone through great changes. The lenghening alone made a great difference to the ships appearance appart from the changes to the various equipment on board.
