The European Seafood Exhibition has been busy this year and it is clear that we are experiencing a very lively market in the Seafood business. There seems to be a great demand for most species and prices are high.
At the end of the second day of the show everybody at the Samherji stand agrees that this one has been the most successful so far. Samherji´s staff has worked very hard greeting guests at the stand with a warm smile and most welcome nourishment, introducing various products of the Samherji Group.
Birgir Össurarson Sales and export Manager of Ice Fresh Seafood has been coming to the show for many years now: „We have never had so many visitors at our stand before. I would estimate
that the majority of our present customers have come to see us in addition to all the potential new ones. There seems to be lack of fish on the market so the demand is great and prices are high.
Apart from that positive fact for us as sellers, the atmosphere is lighter than in the last couple of years“, said Birgir.
Óli Björn Ólafsson Sales Manager agrees with Birgir: „In my field the pelagic species like Mackerel and Herring I sense a great increase in demand and prices have gone
up. The show is busier than last year and there is more interest and positive reaction“.
The Samherji staff has also felt an increased interest in the Samherji Group in general, in a positive way. It is clear that the latest investment in the local Seafood Enterprise Brim has not gone unnoticed internationally.
Samherji´s favourite Chef Einar Geirsson was very popular during the Show, as Arctic Charr and Cod were magically cooked and layed out for guests to taste.
